9 on the 9th- Callies Golden Birthday

Take your dog to work day, sort of?!?!
My little princess turns 9 today WHOA!  That mean's not only is she 63 in dog years but it's been 9 years since we were in college where I got her...seems like yesterday!!!  Today is her golden birthday, but with the new baby about to join us, I have a feeling this is going to be far from her golden year.  Poor little princess, I get kinda upset about it from time to time as well.  I found my eyes filled with water when we were talking about how to get dogs ready for the baby at our mom's group.  I won't be one of those people that has a kid and forgets the dog exists, for sure, but it's definitely going to be different, a good and exciting different, but sad for little Cal Wal :(

Christmas 2011

Regardless of what's to come, today we celebrate!!  I love her sooooo much, she is my little princess, can brighten any day, is loaded with personality, lets you know what she wants adn likes and definitely lets you know what she doesn't like, loves wine and a nice party, and it just the funniest little dog.

Happy Birthday little Callie Wallie Princess, you are Rock can enjoy some frosty paws tonight!!

What a good daddy!!!

So tonight was our annual check up for these two:
We absolutely love our vet, Dr Chris is the best (especially with returning my texts every time Cal Wal has a hair out of place), and if it didn't cost a small fortune every time we went we would love to visit him more often.  Anywho our once 105lb chocolate lab- down to 93 and CWP down from 25 to 20...allllll props go to Eric!!!  He has been walking them every morning- rain, shine, or snow for the past 8ish months and it sure it paying off!!!

I guess we are all ready for this baby thing!!!  I even was able to hold back the tears while Callie got her shots, whooo hooo!!!

PS. If you are every looking for a vet, go here:

And ask for Dr Chris, you won't be dissapointed!!!!

Summer Do!

The first time Callie was shaved was a complete mistake by Petsmart and didn't go over well with me.  I am obsessed with my dog.  I went to pick her up from getting her hair done prob 5-6 years ago, they go back to get her, and out comes this very odd looking dog who was practically bicked but was wearing Callie's collar.  I had knots in my stomach and was terrified it would never grow back.

For a while it wasn't really growing and  Callie was super embarassed by the do she had received.  I decided to do some research one night while drinking wine with my girls on the back porch of 3713.  Well first thing I read specifically says, do not shave American Eskimos their hair doesn't grow back.  I then found myself in hysterics wondering what on earth I had done, no princess is bald!!!!

Anywho, thank goodness the hair grew back and now I of course don't go as short as Petsmart did but I love shaved Callie!!!  I think it makes her look 10 years (at least) younger, she seems to enjoy the "freedom" and has a lot more energy, and most importantly her sundresses fit much better without the hair!!

Happy Summer time!!!  Awwww she's so cute!!!

Happy Easter 2011

What a great day it was!!  The weather was amazing, we saw a ton of family, ate some amazing food, just had a fabulous day!!

In my family you have to die easter eggs until you have your own kids haha, soooo here we go again!!  I think we secretly kinda enjoy it though.

Grandma got into it also, went back and added stickers to our eggs :)

And what would be a party in our family without a million dogs!!
 Princess!!!!
Don't let them fool you, they are not this well behaved...it's a little something called TREATS!!!  Easter Donut Dog treat, look yummy huh!!

And after tons O food it was time to chill out, dig through our Easter Baskets, and take some family pics!!!

A Taste of Summer

Day light savings, nice weather, a 5 mile jog/walk outside with the doggies, and some excellent sales at the Teet all led us to our very first cookout of the year!!

For the main course we mad two dishes...delicious steaks which marinated for multiple hours and also a mixture of shrimp, orange and yellow bell pepper, and a lot of onions....served over wheat rice...this was a first for us and it turned out magnifico!!!

Grilled Sweet Potato fries are quickly becoming our favorite side item.  Before grilling we mix them and let them sit in a bag with some olive oil, honey, and brown sugar!!  mmmmm soooo tasty!!

And for dessert, a very colorful fruit salad...Now if this doesn't scream summer time I am not sure what does!!!
And to top off the night we had a fun and entertaining evening with the Freudiger's.  A very competitive game of Taboo, funny stories, and a very weird alien movie made for a perfect relaxing and healthy night!!

Frosty Paws

What a cute and great idea...I love creative people and their creative ways!!  Although our dogs would and do love the human ice cream sundae from Baskin Robins, on their birthdays we always try to remember Frosty Paws, just seems to fit the theme.  No party this year for Callie :(  Maybe we'll do it again at 10, but her and Rocco enjoyed a delicious birthday treat together!!!

Okay Rocco stop drooling...have at it!!

Dear Callie,

Happy 8th Birthday Callie Wallie Princess!!!! Aka CWP!!!
When I first got you, my world turned upside down, I have never loved anything so much (okay let's be realistic, yes family and friends I love you too).  You were the first thing I have ever had to take care of, legitimately, YOUR life depended on me, craaaazy.  Being responsible for another life, in college at that, let's just say we are both lucky we made it through.
I think we have moved in and lived in 6+ difference places together, the beach was by far both of our favorites :)

You have met, been friends with, and lived with over 30+ dogs so far in your lifetime, unfortunately for you, one has stood the test of time, and you have been a great big sister.  Teaching him all the cool stuff like how to eat your poo, love ice like it's a treat, not let anyone touch your paws, and although you BOTH love water to absolutely HATE the shower....
We have had some good times....

Anddddd some not so good ones, sorry about the whole shaving thing....eeeek
You are the funniest/weirdest/best/cutest/psychotic little pup I have ever met.  I love that "want wine" makes you come when called, "party" makes you smile, how you stand on my center console when you ride in the car and bat my hand to pet you constantly while driving, love how you lay on my desk at work, that you just love the clothes I put on you and actually pretend to like them, how you squeak and squeal when I come back from vacation, how you need me when you are sick or hurt, how you rip open your birthday and Christmas presents, how you can go 12+ hours without me letting you out and you don't even get mad, how you know my voice and when I am home and don't fall for other people's attempts to sound like your high pitched mother, how you ride in the cart at the container store, and all of the other crazy stuff you have done has always made me so happy to have you!!!
They say a dog is a (wo)man's best friend, and you have been every bit of that and and more to be in the 8 years we have been together.  You are truly my little princess even now with your terrible breath and old lady bumps I love you just as much as I did the first day we brought you home!!!  We are quite a pair and I just love you to pieces!!

Eric and Rocco gone hunting.....

Eric met Chris and Mike at the farm to join them in their annual after Christmas hunt.  Eric had a great time and was quite successful apparently.  Rocco didn't get it really, he would run over to the goose and then be looking back for his ball, this I am quite happy about, he will remain my sweet cuddly little boy!!!

Anyone else confused by this picture???  Don't you think if all of your friends were laying there dead you wouldn't hang out in that spot??  Referring to all the geese wandering around in the background.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSTER!!!!

Eric and Chris with the labs!  Rocks, Remi, and Barley!

Happy December 1st!!!  I can't believe it's already December and Christmas is right around the corner!!!  Only 25 days left.  December 1st always marked the beginning of my advent calendar, well until now, because I just realized Debs hasn't given us one for this year :(  It appears Advent calendars aren't just for people anymore...that's right a dog bone Christmas Tree Advent Calendar!!

plain and simple

Myself and the majority of my family has struggled with our weight for most of our lives. Maybe because we played at least one sport a day/7 days a week for 18+ years and ate whatever we wanted or at least whatever we could squeeze in on the way from school/practice/friends houses to more practices. Well now it has caught up with me, sitting at a desk all day doesn't allow me to live the same type of active lifestyle. I was able to lose some weight before the wedding but that didn't even get me to where I want/need to be and have since gained that all back plus a few extra married lbs. Motivation is what's hard for me as it always seems like there is something better (more fun) to do. Well I think I have finally reached my breaking point, I am back on weight watchers recording everything I eat/drink (including yummy vino), I started the Biggest Loser competition at work because let's face it- I am super competitive and winning and being held accountable is a source of motivation for me, and I have hit the pavement 4 times a week for the last 2 weeks with my buddy Rocco for 3 miles each time on days I don't have soccer or tennis!! Running sucks, I hate it, although it does seem to be getting easier each time. Still not sure I will catch that running itch it seems the rest of the world has, but 12 miles a week from me and the Rock plain and simply will get us to where we need to be before I break out the jeans!!

welcome REMI!!!!!!

We have been on the hunt (literally) for the new perfect black lab ever since Stormy passed away and finally from the same line that Stormy came from has come our new little princess. Weighing in at 9.1lbs at 8 weeks old is REMI!!! She is just soooo darn cute and that puppy smell mmmmm :)

magic moments

For those of you that know miss callie wallie princess you are well aware of the super high pitched scream that is typically released from her vocal cords when anything, and I mean anything touches down within 3 miles of her. This is just one of those moments that makes a mom so proud, she is not only laying on the SAME bed as Rocco, she actually came up on the bed and laid down back to back with the Rock!!!

may brunch with our 4-legged friends

So once a month my girlfriends try to get together for brunch!! This month was one of the most fun ones we have had!! The weather was so nice out, the executive decision by Ms Courtney Bullock was to make our May brunch a picnic and hike at Great Falls!!! Courtney brought sandwiches, fruit, veggies- so healthy, we ate and then hiked on the rocks along the Potomac. Of course everyone brought their dogs which outnumbered the people. Great time had by all!!!

happy 3rd birthday ROCCO!!!

Eric and I drove to Mount Airy, MD on the way home from a weekend at the farm to just "look" at these chocolate labs. We got there, the 4 puppies left (from a little of 9) and their mom all came out to greet us and whaddddddya know, not 5 minutes later we were picking the one (of course the one twice the size of the others) to take home with us!!!!
Rocco was great on the car ride home where he was greeted by his new not so excited to see him sister Callie. And as you can see has been trying to get away from him since the moment he arrived...
In Rocco's 3 years he has captured the hearts of many with his lovable and cuddly ways...
And has made a lot of Doggy Dog Friends!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Little (well not so much) Guy!!!
