1 year old

I have a 1 year old?!?!  Whattttttt!!!  I can not believe it has been a year since my little man entered my life, however my life and my heart are so full from him it feels like he has been around for a while, but a year!!!  Going into his first birthday I wasn't sad, I wasn't upset, I was excited to give my own child a birthday party and to hold him while everyone sings and to watch him eat the cake.  And then today we went to the Pediatrician for his 1 year old appt, the doctor said he's not a baby anymore, he's in his 2nd year of life and it hit me.  I had to hold back the tears, my little infant turned into a baby so fast, and now he's a toddler??  I mean should I start saving for his car on his 16th birthday already (if he's good of course)?!?!  Time is going way to fast, but the whole year it has always been my goal to go go go go go and do everything and anything fun that we could possibly squeeze into our schedule and anything that would put a smile on his innocent and perfect little face.

Today, Ryan weighed 23lbs 7ounces, Eric and I were both shocked, I was thinking he was like 30 pounds, not so much.  His weight is 61st percentile.  He is 30 and 3/4 inches tall which is the 80th percentile and he takes after his dad with his head in the 100th percentile.  Doctor said he was growing and looked great!  Now we go off bottles, off formula, and just right into being a little kid, OH MY!  3 meals a day, milk out of a sippy cup, saying "no" stern and in a different voice so he doesn't continue to laugh at me every time I say it, snacks, bedtime routine, family traditions, and my favorite after the worst month of sleep in history, he is fine to just scream the entire night.  I picture him crying in his room and me crying in mine until we get this sleeping situation under control but no one involved can continue the way we have been going.  Not a baby anymore :(

You are currently in size 4 diapers, eating mostly regular food since you hate baby food but we are able to squeeze a jar or squeeze thinggy in from time to time, having 3 bottles a day, 2 naps although I believe we are in the process of transitioning to just 1, 8 teeth- you got a mouth full, and wearing size 18month clothes and any 12 month stuff you can still fit into.  You love your baseball and we strongly encourgage it to be held in your left hand, we are going for a professional baseball pitcher.  You have a ton of toys, Christmas and New Years and put the entire Target toy section into our new playroom, previously served as a dining room.  You love them all and go from one to another.  You walk holding onto things, and can move from one thing to another, VERY quickly.  You let go and stand for a few seconds at a time.  You hit your hear allll the time falling (doc said that was normal and fine too).  You are everywhere and into everything, never a dull moment and good thing I have lots of energy!  You also have learned to cry when you don't get what you want and to test us when you know you are not supposed to be doing something, oh and then you throw a temper tantrum and arc your back and throw your head down.  You are still the sweetest little thing and love to cuddle with mommy.  Mornings are still out favorite time, you love to be held while you warm up, you are so lovey and snuggly and just so sweet with those rosy red cheeks.  You say dadadadada and daddy and momma and aihfioahfahifhaaahlahd, you talk constantly.  You still love love love bath time and playing with your ducks.  You are obsesssssed with Grandma and tend to choose her over anyone else, including your parents.

This month has been crazy busy full of your 1st, including Christmas which was perfect!!  You got to spend time with everyone!!  We went to Gma's on Christmas eve, then Richmond on Christmas Day, then Wintergreen through the new year.  And oh yeah you got your experience your first ball drop since you conveniently woke up at 11 new years eve wide awake.  You went sledding at Wintergreen, you LOVED it and giggled the whole time, so much fun!  This past weekend you also had your first swim lesson, daddy took you because mommy was sick, he said you did great except for the going under water part!  And to finish up your first year we had a Winter ONEderland 1st birthday party for you and you did amazing!  Were such a good boy the entire time, and surprise you LOVE cake!!!

This has been the best year ever because you became a part of our lives.  We have all grown and been challenged and experienced more happiness then ever before.  You have touched so many and are loved by so many, your birthday was a perfect example of that, even after your party people continued to stop by to see you!  You are the absolute light of our lives, we have loved so much watching you grow and change every day/week/month, and can't wait to experience so many more milestones to come!  We love you so so so much, happy birthday little man, and let's have an awesome 2nd year!!!!

Love,

Momma and Dada
